The RNS Mobile Mammography Van makes
cancer detection equipment easily accessible to women
in Atlantic, Cape May and southern Ocean County. This
custom-designed van, one of only two such units in
New Jersey, features the latest low-dose mammography
equipment, and is accredited by the American College
of Radiology and the FDA. All mammograms performed
at AtlantiCare are run through the R2 ImageChecker,
a computer that helps radiologist detect cancer at
the earliest, most treatable stage
According to the staff of the RNS Regional Cancer
Center at ARMC, mammograms and self breast examinations
are the best ways to aid in early detection of breast
cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends that
a women have a mammogram every year starting at age
40. By taking advantage of the RNS Mobile Mammography
Van, women can receive a screening mammogram in less
than 30 minutes at a location close to their home or
workplace. The films will be read by a radiologist from
Atlantic Radiologists, P.A., at ARMC's Mainland Campus,
and both the woman and her physician will receive a
copy of the results.
Most forms of insurance are accepted, including Medicare
and Medicaid. The Mobile Mammography Van has been approved
by the American College of Radiology's Mammography Accreditation
Program, and will be at the above locations.
